Someone to call when it matters

Live software needs a team behind it, not just a build.

Application support is the reactive side of running software — a team ready to respond when your application breaks, an incident hits, or a user needs help, within response times you can rely on.

The problem is what most support actually feels like. You raise a ticket and it lands with someone who has never seen your system, so you explain it from scratch, get a copy-paste reply that misses the point, and follow up for days before anyone who can read the code takes a look. Meanwhile the thing is still broken, your users still feel it, and the "support" you are paying for is mostly waiting.

Avaib does support the other way round. The people answering your tickets are senior engineers who have learned and documented your software, so the first reply already understands the problem and the hard ones go straight to someone who can actually fix them — at the cause, so they stay fixed. It pairs naturally with proactive software maintenance, the two halves of keeping software healthy after launch.

What's covered

Everything a live application needs when things go wrong.

Support is not one job — it is the set of things that keep your software usable and quickly put right when it is not, handled by a team that knows it.

Incident response

When your application goes down or starts misbehaving, a team that already knows it responds within an agreed time, works the problem, and keeps you informed until it is back to normal.

Bug and error fixes

The faults your users hit in live use — the error message, the failed payment, the report that will not run — diagnosed, fixed at the cause, and tested so the same thing does not come back.

User and help-desk support

A place for your team or your customers to raise problems and questions, answered by people who understand the software rather than reading from a script.

Escalation and root-cause work

The hard problems the front line cannot solve go straight to senior engineers who can read the code, trace the real cause, and fix it — not just restart it and hope.

Urgent small changes

A price that changed, a rule that broke, a field that has to be added today — the small, time-sensitive changes a live system needs, handled quickly without a full project.

Monitoring-triggered response

Where monitoring is in place, an alert becomes an action: we catch the slow-down or error spike and respond, often before your users have even noticed.

Need the full picture, or just senior escalation behind your own help desk? We shape support around your software.

Why most support disappoints

The trap: a first line that does not understand your system.

The reason support so often feels useless is not laziness — it is a model where your ticket meets people who have never seen your software. Here is how that plays out.

01

Your ticket meets someone who does not know your system

It lands with a first-line agent working from a script. They have never seen your software, so you re-explain it from scratch, attach the screenshots again, and wait.

02

You get a boilerplate reply, then silence

A copy-paste answer that does not read what you sent, a request for information you already gave, and a ticket that goes quiet. Miss a reply for a day or two and it is closed, unresolved.

03

The real fix is days and three handovers away

It finally gets escalated to someone who can actually read the code — long after the problem started hurting. Reactive support done this way costs you time, users and trust.

Support done properly

Fast, informed and accountable, from the first reply.

Good support is not about more tiers to climb — it is about the right person, quickly. This is what every Avaib support plan is built to be.

Answered by people who know your software

Your support comes from engineers who have learned and documented your system, so you are not re-explaining it every time and the first reply already understands the problem.

Response times agreed by severity

A production outage is not a "we will get to it" ticket. We agree response times by how serious the issue is, and we staff the team to actually keep them.

Straight to someone who can fix it

Hard problems go to senior engineers who can read the code and trace the real cause, instead of bouncing through tiers that can only restart and escalate.

Root cause, not just a restart

We fix the underlying reason a thing broke so it stays fixed, rather than clearing the symptom today and seeing the same ticket next week.

You can see every ticket

Plain-English updates on what was raised, what was done and what is still open, so support is something you can track, not a queue you shout into.

The knowledge stays with a team

What we learn supporting your system is documented and held by a team, so good support never depends on one person being available.

The support levels

L1, L2 and L3 support, and where Avaib is strongest.

Support is usually organised in three levels. Many providers are strong at the first and thin at the third, which is exactly where the hard, costly problems get solved.

Level 1

First response and triage

The front door: taking the report, answering the common questions, checking the simple things, and getting the urgent issues moving fast to the right person. Where you have your own help desk, this is the layer we back up.

Level 2

Technical investigation

Engineers who dig into the application itself — reproducing the fault, reading logs, checking configuration and data — to resolve the problems the first line cannot, and to work out what really happened.

Level 3

Senior engineering and root cause

The deepest level: senior developers who can read and change the code, fix the underlying cause, and make sure the same class of problem does not keep coming back. This is where Avaib is strongest.

Response times

How urgent it is decides how fast we respond.

A production outage and a small request should not sit in the same queue. We classify issues by severity and agree a response time for each, so the serious ones are handled immediately.

Critical
Production down

The application, or something business-critical in it, is unavailable or failing for everyone. This is an all-hands response: we pick it up fast, keep you updated, and stay on it until service is restored.

High
Major problem, still running

A key feature is broken or badly degraded, or a fault is hitting many users, but the system is still up. Prioritised ahead of routine work and worked until it is resolved.

Normal
Everyday issues and requests

A bug that affects some users, a question, or a small change request. Handled in turn on an agreed timeframe, so nothing sits in an inbox forgotten.

We agree the exact severities and response times with you up front, and only commit to times we can genuinely staff — so what we promise is what we keep.

The fears, answered

What makes people wary of support, and how we handle it.

These are the real frustrations we hear about support that came before us. Here is exactly how Avaib takes each one off the table.

"Support never understands how our system actually works."
Your support is run by engineers who learn and document your specific software, not a rotating first line reading a script. The first reply already knows what your application is and how it fits together, so you are not starting from zero every ticket.
"We get boilerplate answers that ignore what we sent."
We read the ticket, the logs and the screenshots before we reply, because the people answering can actually work the problem. You get a real answer to your real issue, not a canned response that misses the point.
"Tickets go quiet and get closed without being fixed."
Every issue has an owner and a status you can see, and it stays open until it is genuinely resolved. Nothing is quietly closed to make a queue look tidy.
"When it is urgent, we cannot get anyone fast enough."
We agree response times by severity and staff the team to keep them, so a production-down problem gets an immediate response, not a place in the ordinary queue.
"The front line just restarts it and the problem comes back."
Hard problems go straight to senior engineers who fix the underlying cause in the code, not just clear the symptom. We would rather solve it once than see the same ticket every week.
"A support contract will lock us in."
You own the code, the infrastructure and the documentation the whole way through. You stay with us because the support is good, not because leaving would strand you — you can move it or bring it in-house whenever you choose.

Why Avaib

Why choose Avaib for your application support.

Most providers can offer one or two of these. Our whole model is built to give you all of them at once.

An Avaib support team working together to keep client applications running

Senior engineers on the line, not a script

The people answering your tickets can read and change the code. Hard problems are solved at the source, not bounced up a chain of tiers that can only restart and escalate.

Response times that actually hold

Agreed response times by severity, staffed to be kept — so an outage gets an immediate response and a normal request still does not sit forgotten. Support you can rely on, not a headline that slips.

Cost-effective senior expertise

Senior engineers supporting your software from around USD 25 per hour — the same capability Australian, US, Canadian and Middle-East firms charge a fortune for, at a fraction of the price.

AI-accelerated delivery

Our senior engineers use advanced AI coding tools to reproduce, diagnose and fix faster, directing and reviewing every change, so resolutions come quickly without a single corner cut.

A team that knows your system

We learn and document your software as we support it, so the knowledge lives with a team rather than one person you could lose to a resignation, and no ticket starts from scratch.

Around-the-clock, clear English

Teams that work across time zones and communicate plainly, so support is reachable when you need it and easy to deal with when you reach it.

You own it, start to finish

The code, the infrastructure and the documentation stay yours. We support your software without ever locking you in to keep it running.

How it works

From learning your system to steady, senior-led support.

Learn and document the system, agree severities and response times, take live tickets, fix at the root, then report and improve.

01

Learn your system

We map how your application is built, hosted and used, and document it — so the team supporting it understands it, even where there is little handover to start from.

02

Agree severities and response times

We set out how issues are classified and the response time each severity gets, plus how and where you raise them, so expectations are clear on both sides.

03

Take live tickets

You raise issues and requests, and a senior-led team picks them up within the agreed times — triaging, investigating and fixing at the right level rather than bouncing them around.

04

Fix at the root

Beyond clearing the immediate problem, we address the underlying cause so recurring issues stop recurring, and feed anything worth preventing into upkeep.

05

Report and improve

Plain-English reporting on what was raised, resolved and still open, plus the patterns worth acting on, so support gets steadily quieter over time.

Pricing

Enterprise-grade support, without the enterprise price tag.

Senior engineers supporting your software from around USD 25 per hour, the same capability Australian, US, Canadian and Middle-East firms charge a fortune for, at a fraction of the price. You pick the engagement model that fits, and every one is staffed by senior specialists, backed by a dedicated QA department, and leaves you owning your code and infrastructure outright.

Best to start

Support retainer

A predictable monthly plan with agreed severities and response times for one application, so there is always a senior-led team ready when something breaks or a user needs help.

Best for critical systems

Support + on-call cover

A retainer plus agreed out-of-hours cover, so a production-down problem at an awkward time still gets an immediate response instead of waiting for morning.

Best for occasional needs

Blocks of support hours

A pool of senior support hours to draw on as issues come up — right when your support load is light or arrives in bursts, with no wasted retainer.

Every support engagement is delivered by senior engineers, backed by QA, and reported on in plain English, and you keep the code and infrastructure with no lock-in. Not sure which model fits? We will recommend the right one on a free scoping call and send you a free, no-obligation written estimate with a clear scope and a ballpark figure.

Who we help

Application support for the software your business relies on.

If having no one to call when your software breaks has become a real risk, here is the kind of organisation Avaib fits, and the problem we usually solve for each.

Businesses whose developer has moved onThe person who built it — and answered the questions when it broke — has gone. We take over support, learn the system, and give you a team to call again.
Teams with no in-house support coverYour developers should be building, not dropping everything for every incident. We take the reactive support load off them so they can focus on the roadmap.
Products with real users who cannot waitWhen your software breaks, customers feel it immediately. We give you response times by severity so an outage is handled fast, not queued.
Companies let down by scripted supportYou are tired of boilerplate replies from a front line that does not understand your system. We answer with engineers who do.
Organisations needing out-of-hours coverProblems do not keep office hours. We provide on-call cover so a critical issue at night or on a weekend still gets a real response.
In-house teams that need backupYour team handles the front line but needs senior escalation for the hard problems. We sit behind them as L2 and L3 so nothing gets stuck.

Common questions

Application support, answered.

What is application support?

Application support is the ongoing service of helping people use a piece of software and responding when it breaks or misbehaves. It covers taking and triaging issues from your team or your customers, answering questions, diagnosing and fixing bugs and errors in a live application, responding to incidents like outages or slow-downs, and handling small urgent changes — usually against agreed response times so the important problems are dealt with quickly. In short, it is the reactive, "someone to call when something is wrong" side of keeping software running.

It is often organised in three levels: Level 1 (first response and triage), Level 2 (technical investigation) and Level 3 (senior engineering and root-cause fixes). Avaib has supported software across more than 600 projects since 2004, and an application support plan puts a senior-led team behind your software so issues are picked up fast and fixed at the source, not left in a queue.

What is the difference between application support and software maintenance?

They work together but are not the same thing. Application support is reactive: a team that responds when something breaks, a user is stuck, or an incident hits, within agreed response times. Software maintenance is proactive: the planned upkeep — security patches, dependency updates, bug fixes and small improvements — that keeps the code healthy so there is less to react to in the first place.

Put simply, maintenance reduces how often things go wrong, and support responds quickly when they do. Most businesses want both, which is why they are often combined, or wrapped together with monitoring and changes into a managed application plan.

What do L1, L2 and L3 support levels mean?

They describe how deep a support issue goes. Level 1 is the front line: taking the report, answering common questions and getting urgent issues moving to the right place. Level 2 is technical investigation: engineers who reproduce the fault, read the logs and check the application to resolve problems the first line cannot. Level 3 is senior engineering: developers who can read and change the code itself, fix the underlying cause, and stop the same class of problem coming back.

Many providers are strong at Level 1 but thin at Level 3, which is where the hard, expensive problems actually get solved. Avaib is a software engineering company, so our strength is exactly at Level 2 and Level 3 — and we can back up your own Level 1 team or provide all three.

How fast do you respond to support issues?

It depends on how serious the issue is, which is why we agree response times by severity up front rather than promising one blanket number. A critical, production-down problem gets an immediate, all-hands response; a major-but-running issue is prioritised ahead of routine work; and everyday questions and small requests are handled in turn on an agreed timeframe so nothing is forgotten.

We only commit to response times we can genuinely staff, so the times we agree are ones we actually keep, not headline figures that quietly slip once you have signed.

Can you support software that someone else built?

Yes — it is one of the most common reasons businesses come to us. Often the developer or agency that built the software has moved on, sometimes with little documentation, and there is no one left to call when something goes wrong.

We start by learning how your system actually works and documenting it, so the team supporting it genuinely understands it. You do not need the original developer, and you get back a team you can reach when you need one.

Do you offer out-of-hours or on-call support?

Yes. For software where a problem out of hours is genuinely costly, we offer on-call cover so a critical issue at night or on a weekend still gets an immediate response instead of waiting for the next working day.

We agree the cover that fits your software and your risk, so you are paying for the level of availability you actually need rather than a blanket around-the-clock cost you do not.

How much do application support services cost?

It depends on the size and complexity of your software, how many issues it tends to generate, the response times you need, and whether you want out-of-hours cover. Support is usually priced as a predictable monthly retainer for an agreed scope and response times, or as blocks of senior hours you draw on as issues arise. Avaib's model is senior expertise at a cost-effective rate, typically around USD 25 per hour, which is why businesses in Australia, the US, Canada and the Middle East work with us instead of paying big-firm support prices.

After a short conversation about your software and how you need it supported, we will send you a free, no-obligation written estimate with a clear scope and a ballpark figure, so you know exactly what is included and what it costs.

Will a support contract lock us in?

No. You own the code, the infrastructure and the documentation throughout, and we document your system as we support it. You stay with us because the support is good and the team knows your software, not because leaving would strand you.

If you ever want to bring support in-house or move it elsewhere, everything you need to do that is already yours.
